USCIS has 120 days, not 90 days to decide on your case after interview.

After this, you can sue (file Mandamus). That is the only reliable option. Your other efforts may or may not work (depends on luck)

When we first contacted the supervisor, the response was that a decision should be made within 90 days, and if not, to reach out again. Before the 90-day mark, when I spoke with Emma chat, I was repeatedly directed to check processing times and told my case was still within normal limits. However, on day 91, the Emma agent instructed me to submit an e-request. From this, it’s clear that after the 90-day mark, they no longer dismiss inquiries. By 120 days, a decision is expected.

ROC VSC mailed 5/7/14

My fiance also passed her test and was told she'd be getting the letter for the oath ceremony "next week". That was 4 weeks ago and nothing yet. That's for the El Paso FO as it might differ for each field office.

It also showed up in the system about a day later that she was approved and in line to be scheduled. But nvm, she received her letter today that her ceremony is on 10/16.

Had my interview on Monday; even though they'd not given an update it was a combo interview.

Interview started about 75 minutes late. Thankfully I brought water and snacks and had a book to read. Once we were guided in there were lots of questions around the relationship, how we met, any additional docs we wanted to share (I brought a fairly limited set of docs: beneficiary listing on investments, most recent bank account statements showing both of us on them, insurance cards showing we're on the same plan, ID cards both at the same address, and property tax record showing both of us, a couple vacation photos). The officer just glanced at those and seemed more happy to see we'd brought something than in what we brought, none of them were examined.

She then asked if I also wanted to complete the naturalization questions today, and I said yes. Then she moved on to civics test and asked my husband to sit in the back of the office for a bit; I made 6 for 6 on the questions, read and wrote the sentence requested, and confirmed the long list of yes/no questions. Then we were done. The interview took about 45 minutes but probably 20 minutes of that time was her reading or writing and waiting for their system to save or open screens. Apparently there were having some slowness issues on the day.

I was told she was approving both my I751 and N400, and I'd be scheduled for a oath as it was too late in the day for a same-day oath. When I got home I saw the approval on the I751 and the pending oath status on the N400. Today (3 days later) I got the online copy for the scheduled oath letter which will be on the 9th. I'll give another update once that's done, but definitely in the home stretch now!

Great report.  One thing you can do now is to schedule a passport appointment for some point after the oath (if you can schedule that far out).  That saved us a lot of time for wife's passport as appointments were very hard to get in early 2023.  Congratulations......it is a great feeling being out of the pressure of USCIS.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yep, not open far enough out for USPS but I should be able to do it tomorrow!

Interview scheduled for next month. Houston field office. PD Mar 2025. 3-year timeline. I-751 pending. Nothing on the I-751 case. Will it be combo. Also, I have a US Citizen spouse and a 2-year old. Should I take both of them to the interview?

Congrats!

I'd take spouse to interview for sure and leave the kid with a nanny. You don't want a stokes interview. Good luck!

How could it turn into a stoke interview with a child? I genuinely am trying to understand please.

Not every officer likes kids. Small kids especially can cry or otherwise distract the parents and or adjudicator. In this case, officer asks one parent to step outside with kid while asking the other questions. Then parents switch. Then answers compared. Essentially, it becomes a stokes interview when otherwise it wouldn't. I'm quoting few lawyers who go to these interviews, it's from their experience. None of the times I've been to USCIS office I've seen kids around.

The wait for interview can be long. The interview itself can last from 15 minutes to an hour or more depending on officer. If you get same day oath, you may need to wait for it in the building. This happened to me, about 1.5 hrs after interview until I got called for ceremony. A small kid may find this place extremely boring.

I'm sure some VJ users brought kids and had positive experience, I'm just sharing some possible difficulties with this approach.

Thank you. Is there a chance they will ever ask to see the child? Maybe having the child with a family member in the car.
