......We are then stopping by the dmv to update with them.  I don't know if that is necessary, but from what I have read it is a good idea........

Let me know it that works without a passport. At the VIrginia DMV the clerk had to use my passport number to override the license renewal error she got. So now I'm just curious about it. (could have been caused by the fact I started a renewal of a license instead f just an update on citizenship.

will do.  I thought from what i read, all she needs to show is her state id, and her naturalization certificate.  The dmv update is supposed to help with voter registration from what i read.  Apparently, they look at the dmv records to determine whether you are eligible to vote or not.

Congratulations!

Checkbox on N-400 for SSA doesn't work anymore. I recently naturalized. I waited a while, and then had to do it in person at SSA.

Here's experience:

thank you my friend.  I guess we will wait 2 or 3 weeks just to be sure before initiating contact with ss office.  I think that is the best way to proceed, right?

I registered to vote online without leaving the house:

Looks like it's doable for Virginia on website.

Got voter ID few weeks later.

Sure thing, you can give it time. Please report if you somehow magically receive new SS card without going to SSA, it would be good news for others.

okay I'll have to look into that for Florida not sure what the deal is there.  but I guess I should probably do the DMV thing first if I read that they look at DMV records to see if a person is a citizen or not.  no rush on that really that's I would say the least important thing out of all the stuff we have left in my opinion.

We just got back from DMV.  There was no issue at all.  The lady looked at my wifes naturalization certificate, and updated everything in the system.  She printed out a new state ID card for her, and she also registered my wife to vote as well.  We were there about 10 minutes.  The voter card will arrive in the mail in 7-10 days we were told.

Had my oath on Thursday, finally citizen🇺🇸 Can't belive that it's over. Applied for the the passport and passport card on Friday. Next thing is DMV after I get passport and certificate back. They told us that Social Security should be updated if we checked on the application, but just in case I will double check with them in a month. My employer is notified as well, do I'm missing something?

I would not trust them about status with Social Security Administration.

I also checked the box on N-400, but after a month went to update my status to SSA as it wasn't happening. Here's the details:

I think thats it.  Congratulations!!  We did the dmv thing the same day as passport application.  We went to dmv in the morning, and then did the passport application process in the afternoon.  All we have left is social security when we get my wifes passport and naturalization certificate back in a few weeks.  I keep hoping we get lucky and that check box on the n-400 works for us.

I was told that social security is bit slow processing, so to wait about a month before checking. Hopefully by then I'll get my certificate back.

Wow. We were interviewed on the same date and at the same location! I haven't heard from them. I just finished chatting with Emma, and they said to keep waiting. I also checked Reddit, and some of the Brooklyn FOs (2025) were able to get their oath ceremony scheduled within 3-4 months after their interview.
