Can someone help me understand the fees for this entire process?

 

In 2023 I paid $530 for the I130 petition. I received notice today that I need to pay more fees totaling $445 for the NVC processing. And I'm imagining now that there will be more fees once it reaches the consulate?

Yes, there will be a fee for a medical exam which varies country to country and a $200 USCIS Immigrant fee to print out the GC once the beneficiary enters the US (can be paid after receiving the visa in passport).

Immigration is expensive. This is just the beginning, you'd have more other types of expenses getting immigrants settled, other than fees. It's still cheaper than AOS.
