Stopped pursuing application, want to start again?

To make a long story short, we had to stop pursuing our application for personal reasons beyond our control.  We received notice that our application was sent to NVC in September 2021 and it was at that point we had some things to sort out here in Canada (our child had some medical concerns and lots of testing being done in Canada so we stayed here while they were trying to find what was wrong).  

 

From what we can read online, I think we have to re-apply because the absolute max that NVC will keep your file is 1 year (2 if you have issues beyond your control) and we have exceeded both.

 

Has anyone had to start all over again? Did you run into any hiccups or any advice you can share that night be helpful?

 

We are ready to start again now that everything is, thankfully, all clear. Just looking for any advice or even to see if anyone has been in a similar situation of re-applying :)

3 years is max no contact . ..and even you could have sent an email once a year requesting additional time.

‘’You should do that request now , via Ask NVC .
Write out  Request your case be reinstated   , detail the medical hardship, sign under penalty of perjury …scan and attach to your email . 

If you have not passed the 3 year mark , you have excellent chances

We honestly just dropped the idea of moving all together. At the time, the medical concerns sounded serious and we had a great team here for our child. It was such an overwhelming time and we didn't want to uproot things and leave the great care team we had.  It wasn't the most responsible decision to not update them and I do wish we had  I completely understand if we have to re-apply. It was entirely our lack of proper updating that got us here. 

 

We didn't get any emails or letters at all surprisingly. But I am glad to hear that there is hope to continue where we left off. I will reach out to NVC asap.  Thank you very much for your feedback!!

I understand. ..however do not write anything about the temporary change of heart on the permanent move. Stick to the medical hardship …

Agree 100%.  There is a good chance to continue the case at NVC rather than going back through USCIS again...
