I see no downside.  In fact, I'd offer all current bureaucratic employees a moving stipend of $6,000 or the chance to retire for a payment of one month's salary for every year worked.  Then, hire locals.  Your thoughts?

Won't matter, it is the people that populate the federal government (elected, appointed, and bureaucrat) as well as their acolytes that like to be around power (Joe Scarborough et. al.) that are the problem.

Moving agencies would at least put Federal court cases into fairer, more-balanced venues.

Republicans would probably have more fighting chances in Great Bend, Kansas than in D.C.

 

Furthermore, accountability might improve (e.g., put the Dept. of the Interior in Wyoming, nearer the center of action).  Let the "anointed" elected/appointed crowd be more accountable, and let the employed bureaucrats be real people from real places.

 

Moving agencies would also be a way to pare down the bloated size of government.

 

I'd love to see Scarborough et al. try to interact with folks in Flyover territory.

I agree, agencies should be spread around the country.  Trump had a great idea of doing that, but of course the deep state was dead set against that.

Dozens Injured At Capitol After Omnibus Bill Tips Over

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to reports, several members of Congress and staffers were injured at the Capitol after the new omnibus spending bill tipped over and fell on them.
