So, I am a Naturalized US Citizen, Naturalization date being June 2022.
My wife has been a Green Card holder since April 2001.
Now I was thinking to start the process for her Citizenship through marriage sponsorship (N-400 form). Since I am a citizen and she can file for her citizenship though marriage after 3 years of receiving the Green card (90 days prior we can start the process).
All these 3 years she was married to me and we were living in the US together.

So, can we file for her Citizenship (through marriage) even though I received my Citizenship on June 2022? Or do I need to be a Citizen for 3 years?
Please suggest with some valid information source (preferably the USCIS website).
This is urgent!!
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Why can't wife file under 5 year rule since she's been LPR since 2001? Or you meant 2021?

Then yes, you must have been a citizen for all those 3 years if wife is to naturalize based on 3 year rule. So wife can naturalize in June 2025 (minus 90 days) based on 3 year rule.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-g-chapter-3

"The spouse must have continuously resided in the United States after becoming a lawful permanent resident (LPR) for at least 3 years immediately preceding the date of filing the naturalization application and must have lived in marital union with his or her citizen spouse for at least those 3 years. "

So you've been a spouse for 3 years but you haven't been a US citizen spouse for those 3 years. You've only been a citizen spouse for 2 years.

Thanks y'all.

So I guess I will start the procedure in March 2025 (as per the 90 day rule).

Don't want to wait longer (the sooner the better).

It's up to your wife when she decides to file to be exact 😊 You're just a moral support at N-400 stage.

I recommend she files herself to avoid any mistakes. She's the only one responsibe for her own naturalization.

Actually it is all up to me. She is too busy with family and work, so left all these "non-important" stuff to me, to be exact.

All the paperwork has to be done by me, she just signs. She doesn't bother.

So in a way, it IS up to me 😛

Not quite.  It's going to be up to her to study and learn all 100 questions and earn at least a 60% passing grade.  You can't do that for her.
