TYPOGRAPHIC ERROR ON I-130

My husband, a US citizen who just filed an i-130 for his mom and made a typographic error (mistake) on his dad's date of birth, who he intend to file his petition afterwards. 

 

Be advised, USCIS have his dad's correct date of birth on his i-130 and N400 previous petition on their database, will this affect the consular officer's decision for the approval of his mom's petition?

 

Can anyone advise us on how to correct this or way to go.

It will be flagged/ caught. 

 

But you can fix at interview. As soon as he sits down with IO, that's the first thing that he should utter.

However, I was able to correct the error using the uscis service request "make typographic error corrections for a case".

Why would that be the first thing that he utters? Also, why wait at the interview and risk delays or even rejection when it can be fixed ahead of time?

Because otherwise interview may go without this question ever be asked. The best thing is to prepare an errata sheet and notify the IO about it before the interview starts.
