Hello All,

I just got an email notification that NVC updated my parents' cases. It was super quick. No complains.

However, here is what they want:

1. My father's criminal certificate (issued by the police department, translated and notarized) is invalid and they are requesting to replace it with an "acceptable" certificate. I do not know what else to submit. How come it is invalid? I submitted the same document just for my mother and it was accepted!!! Please advise what I should do. Thank you.

2. I am the only petitioner for my parents. For some reason, they want information about my husband. Does anybody know, why they need his information? We did NOT apply jointly. Yes, we filed taxes together, but I submitted my W2 and paystubs to show them just my income. I did not want to involve my husband.

Thank you.

Tatyana.

HI, appleblossom

The police certificate was issued in Uzbekistan. I am confused as to why they accepted my mother's certificate, but it is invalid for my father. It does not make sense. It seems like two different people reviewed my parents' application.

They want me to fill out I864 A-contract between the sponsor and household member

Proof of US citizenship

Proof of relationship for this, I have submitted our marriage certificate when I submitted doc for my parents - no idea why they are asking again

proof of US domicile

I sent a message to NVC they said they my father's Police certificate was invalid due to  reciprocity. Do they mean he bribed someone to get the certificate? This is Non-sense. We would never do anything like that, we do not need it, my father is not a criminal.

I tried to call them they suspended the phone line. How can I talk to someone, an actual  person in NVC? Is it possible?

You should probably search the meaning of the word reciprocity if you don't know the definition.

Sounds like they think he did not follow the instructions for the document needed in his country? Did he apply for the certificate like it says to do on that page?

Are u providing a separate residence for your parents or they will buy their own house or apartment?

if they will live with the 2 of u,  he contributes to their quality of life and is involved  as he contributes to mortgage(or rent) ,utilities,,etc  -his assets

Each Form I-864A is completed and signed by two individuals: a sponsor who is completing Form I-864 and a household member who is promising to make his or her income and/or assets available to the sponsor to help support the sponsored immigrants

I believe this poster is correct, you will need to include your husbands info by default since you are married, live together, and file taxes jointly. Legally your finances are merged.

I will include a screenshot of the document requirements by NVC for the police certificate from Uzbekistan, which can be found at nvc.state.gov/find

Make sure that the police certificate you submitted is the correct one, as described below.

I googled it, It sounded like a bribe,  mutual exchange, or interaction between parties with an expectation of corresponding actions, often for mutual benefit or cooperation.

Anyways, regardless, of what it means, yes, all qualifications of the document have been met. As I mentioned earlier, my mother's certificate has been accepted. it is exactly the same type of document.

Yes, they will live with us.

And yes, my father's certificate answers all the NVC requirements. I sent them a follow-up message, asking what exactly was wrong with the document.

If we inquire about a new certificate, it will be the same document type and the same context.

If USCIS or NVC or the CO at embassy asks for a document,  the case will go further until u send it

u share assets by living together even if u file MFS  as any property gained after a marriage u have acquired assets deemed jjointly owned  like a new car even if only 1 name is on it

“Commingling” generally refers to the mixing of funds. When we’re talking about a married couple, the legal explanation of commingling notes “certain assets acquired during a marriage as being jointly owned by both spouses. If a spouse mixes their separate property with marital property, such as in a joint bank account, and there is later a divorce, then the spouse risks forfeiting some of the separate property when the marital property is divided.”

Googling a word by itself means nothing.

You have to search for the word in the context that it deals with NVC.

Hi All,

Quick update.

I resubmitted my father's same police certificate, and additionally, submitted an image where I color coded the NVC requirement points and my father's certificate information. I was showing them that my father's document was correct, and it was accepted. I think initially, a person who reviewed the documents made a mistake. And the second time it was reviewed by either a different person or they realized there had been a misunderstanding.
