Sorry for the inconvenience in my last thread with the same title, moderators can delete that one since it's not possible to reply anyway.

So again to my point and question.

How do they even think? So there is no legitimate way for people to actually confirm that (they are they) if someone wants to use their photos and mess around with them? I mean I can easily ruin for many of my friends and they for me as well, by just make another application with some of my photos, and then the system will count them as "duplicate"?

But with passport the system can still know that my application was real based on some sort of real ID or Passport. Also, they should skip the photo requirements until the end results anyway.

But can someone explain how this isn't complete foolish? Its completely corrupt.

Most people do not give passport photos to friends and most people's friends would not do that.

You clearly didn't get what I meant. I meant that if I want to mess with you, I can just go to your Facebook profile, and edit one of your pictures, and the apply for the diversity lottery. Then the photo system will find your application duplicate, there is no need to have your passport or ID, just another photo of you.

What I mean with passport is that, it is here the system can know which one of your applications are real, and the only way is to identify with an ID that no one of your close one has of you.

From the DV FAQs:

The Department of State uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple entries.  Individuals with more than one entry will be ineligible for a DV.

Based on this statement, you can rest assured that the technology used by the DOS looks at much more than just the photo submitted with the DV application, including your full name, mailing address, email address, date of birth, place of birth, names of spouse, children, etc., all very unique and confidential information that only you as the applicant should know.  The DOS receives millions of applications each year for a very small number of "winners" selected randomly.  There are always scammers but those would be detected if selected, at the visa interview.  Good luck!

What kind of friends do you have that will complete the DV lottery application as a joke and not for themselves?

I once attempted to complete the application and it took forever to get through the steps and then it timed out and my application was never submitted.
Every year, I see people complain about how difficult it is to complete the application because so many people are trying at the same time and the service is overloaded.
If you think there are people in your life who might play this “trick” on you… I would shut down your social media.
if you need social media for various reasons make sure you watermark your photos and alter them so they cannot be used in a “DV prank”.

Does make me wonder what percentage of applicants have a passport? I assume it is low.
