It is becoming harder to get away with lying in the age of independent media.  Progressives in particular are struggling to safeguard the sacred belief that the planet is on the verge of melting because naughty plebeians keep driving SUVs and using air conditioning.

Climate change devotees are willing to lie to defend this article of faith.  Ray Sanders, an engineer by trade, realized this as he double-checked the calculations of the Met Office, the U.K. government agency responsible for guessing whether it will rain in Blighty tomorrow.

 

The Met is also known for making bold prognostications about the conditions expected half-a-century from now.  "Heatwaves, like that of summer 2018, are now 30 times more likely to happen due to climate change," it asserts.  [...]

Now, that principle faces a quiet but consequential test in a courtroom in The Hague.

Greenpeace International has filed a lawsuit in The Netherlands to overturn a $660 million US verdict. On Oct. 28, the trial judge reduced the award to $345 million, but it still remains one of the largest awards for interference with infrastructure in US history.

 

A North Dakota jury had found the organization liable for defamation, trespass, and civil conspiracy during its campaign against the Dakota Access Pipeline. If the Dutch courts agree, they could refuse to enforce the US ruling, not only invalidating a duly rendered civil verdict, but also casting doubt on whether European courts will honor US legal decisions at all.

The Morton County jury determined that Greenpeace paid outside protestors, coordinated their encampments, and spread false claims about pipeline safety—actions that interfered with construction, escalated costs, and ultimately depressed the stock value of developer Energy Transfer.

A bit misleading, a Dutch court cant overturn a US Court, this issue presumably is where the assets are and opbtaining enforcement to recover the judgement.

I agree that a Dutch court cannot overturn a US Court finding, but that does not mean they won't try, or at least make it very difficult for the enforcement.
