June 2023 I-130 Filers

Didn't see a thread for June yet, so I will start one (though let me know if I missed it).

 

We were married back in 2017, already went through the K-1 visa process and my wife got her green card, we lived in the US for 2 years and then for family reasons moved back to Chile. Now with two kids with us we are looking to move back state-side. Yay Round 2! 

 

Filed on June 4th online, recieved the Reciept Notice the same day and based on that document it looks like it will be processed in Virginia. I assume this is NOT the same as the official NOA1? I suppose that will come in the mail?

First post here - Filed I130 online today 6/23 and interested to watch the process unfold for other June filers. I saw in my USCIS online account that there is already a receipt notice, and there will be one mailed out describing how they will process the case. Based on your sig, looks like you got the answer to your question, so I'm hoping to get the NOA1 in the next week.

Yes, I did get my answer -- I did recieve both. The other thing I was wondering, and did have confirmed was if the service center indicated on the Reciept Notice was the same as the NOA1 and at least for me they were both the same (Potomac Service Center).

Quick update - notified of "Actively Reviewing" on July 17, and since the beginning of the process the myProgress tab has shown a relatively steady countdown from 11 months. I checked a couple days ago and it was at 8 months, and I checked again today and see that the status now says Your case is taking longer than expected to process. Quick change, from the uscis reddit sounds like many people have had their estimates updated. Probably not an indicator of any actual progress, or at least I'd prefer to believe that and not get my hopes up!

Yeah from reading other people's posts it seems like that is a pretty common status, "taking longer than expected", and I don't think it means too too much. They probably just having something in the system that it should go from "Actively Reviewing" to some other status in 1-2 months and if it doesn't than it goes to "taking longer than expected". 

 

Mine just recently went to "Actively Reviewing" on september 12th, and still says 5 months. But yeah also not getting hopes up...just gotta be patient.

Hello fellow June filers.  First post.  I'm in the US and spouse is still living abroad. 

I-130 Priority Date June 2nd  Sent via lawyer Notice sent Date June 7th.

June 9th: Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS.

As of 10/10/23 Estimated time until case decision is 6 months.  Seems to change at the first of every month.

SC: Potomac

 

I-129f Receipt Date June 16th.  Notice sent date: July 3rd.  

They don't give any updates online for the I-129f

SC: Texas

 

I am not sure how to check if my service center has changed.

Did you file a 1-130 and 1-129f?

Yes, first the I-130 and after I received the notice I filed the I-129f.  You need the I-130 case number when you file the I-129f.

Ahhh you are doing K-3. Yeah, its just not super common anymore, and can be a bit of a waste of money to pay for both applications. The way I understand it is that K-3 was made so that your spouse can enter the country as a non-immigrant while waiting for the I-130. But now both applications basically take the same time....so most people just do the I-130 and enter the country as residents.

Yes, correct.  Some say it speeds it up.  It doesn't cost anything.  Just postage.  If there is a chance it will speed it up, I'm willing to do anything.

We filed June 21.  Originally we were gonna do k-1, but lawyer told us it was pointless because the wait times were the same.  Currently, Your case is taking longer than expected to process.

There's no filing fee for I-129F for K3 spouse.  Just make sure to check the correct box for "Spouse (K-3 visa)" classification, and include a copy of your I-130 receipt notice in your I-129F package.

 

The I-129F K3 will almost certainly be closed, but many VJ members reported that filing I-129F may have triggered their I-130 to be reviewed and approved faster.  While there's no guarantee that it will work to nudge your I-130 processing, it won't hurt your case to file I-129F.

first post on here filed June 10 23.  still have no updates haven't been sent a RFE *fingers crossed*.  We did the K3 and the I-130 but USCIS only moved forward with the I-130 as being reviewed the K3 remained the status of received.
