Is electronic signature OK for form I-864?

Preparing for a consulate visa interview in July. Consulate has requested an updated I-864 be brought to the visa interview.

Is Petitioner's electronic signature acceptable for I-864, or to we need to courier originals to the home country?

This depends on the consulate. If they didn’t specifically request a wet signature, then scanned should be fine (as in person signs, scans, sends via email and it’s printed out).

How about just a "certified" electronic signature from a service like docusign?

No, that will not be accepted.

And what about an electronic signature that has been notarized? 

They are supposed to be valid for anything that needs notarizing now, even though an I-864 doesn't require it.

I wouldn't play with fire, just sign the form with a wet ink signature and then scan the form for the beneficiary. 

 

"Starting January 1, 2017, the National Visa Center (NVC) will accept photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents. Please note that the form must still be signed; typed names and electronic signatures will not be accepted."
