The details...

Well our interview is April 17. I'm flying into Istanbul April 13, staying there for a few days, then we're flying to Ankara on the 15th. We'll stay until the 17, do the interview, then leave that evening to save on hotel expenses. Probably bus to her family's house in Mersin. Her family wants to throw a wedding party, basically the social portion of a Turkish wedding or so I'm told. My fiance will buy a wedding dress, I'll bring a suit, and in her parent's eyes we will be married. They even say we can sleep together in their house at that point... Legally we won't be married (I don't think) no but her parents will get to see their daughter's wedding. I was sure to explain the reason for not having a legal marriage.

I have no idea what these parties are like but my fiance's brother told me that if I didn't dance the traditional dances they'd throw me in the sea. I really hope this party won't cause any problems and assume it won't since it has nothing to do with the legal side of the marriage. I'm really excited!

I'm scheduled to fly out April 26th and I bought a 2 way ticket from Istanbul back to the states for her for $790. If she doesn't get the Visa I can turn the ticket in and get a $600 credit towards the next ticket. Cost of a 1 way ticket was over $1000 and in order to fly back together I'd have to fly turkish airlines which for some reason raised the cost of my ticket from the $900 I payed with NWA to $1250.

I really hope her visa isn't denied. It's been 6 months and we're both going crazy. I know others waited a lot longer and I really sympathize with you all. I really think they'd have a hard time asking me to provide cosponsor since I work for a University and make double what they ask. If they do ask for that, how long will this delay her visa? Should I consider bringing the proper paperwork for a cosponsor already filled out with me? My parents or her sister have no problem doing it. I'd have more trouble finding evidence of a relationship since we've only met once and have no phone records. I do have about ummmm... 6000 pages of msn chat logs from the last 6 months and my phone bill which showed the countless text messages we've sent each other.

I just want her here! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Hello Everyone!! I am hoping it is okay to post in this thread. I was just wondering if anyone had problems with the Embassy and making you have a joint sponsor. I am worried that they will do that :crying: Last year it looks like my income was only 19k due to only being in the US a short period of time. However this year, with 2 jobs, I should make about 35k. Does anyone think there will be any issues with this? I really hope not, for I have no way to get a joint sponsor. :(

UPDATED FROM ANKARA EMBASSY WEBSITE:

Update: April 3, 2006

If you were interviewed before September 7, 2004, you must bring two new front-view immigrant visa photos when you return to the Embassy to complete your application. Please click on photo requirements for detailed information about the new immigrant visa photo requirements.

In addition, if you were interviewed prior to September 7, 2004, all applicants born in 1991 or before and whose files are pending must come to the Embassy in person to complete their files. Even if the interviewing officer stated that one family member could pick up visas for the entire family, every applicant born in 1991 or before must come to the Embassy. THIS IS A NEW POLICY. All applicants age 13-79 (who were born between 1991-1925) must now be fingerscanned in order to receive visas.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://ankara.usembassy.gov/photo_requirements.html

For Iranian Applicants, when your number appears, come to the Embassy with the refusal sheet (OF-194) and missing items, if any, before the expiration date of your clearance any Monday-Thursday between 1:30-2:00 p.m. When the visa receives final approval, your passport will be returned by UPS courier to a local address (in Turkey) within 2-3 working days. All visa applicants, even children, must appear in person.

For Turkish applicants, if your case number appears below, please contact the local UPS office in Turkey by calling 444-0033 to courier your refusal sheet (OF-194) and the missing items. If that number does not work dial 312-444-0033. This must be done before the security check expiration date. If everything is in order, the visa will be sent to you by courier. If your application is still missing items, you will receive a deficiency notice telling you what items need to be provided to complete your application. If your case number is not listed, please check the list every seven days. You will pay for one way delivery. The UPS fee for return of visas or the deficiency notice will be collected by UPS when they deliver.

When your number appears, you may come to the Embassy before the expiration date given on the internet any Monday between 1:00-1:30 p.m. When the visa receives final approval, your passport will be returned by UPS courier to a local address (in Turkey) within 2-3 working days.

I've only been with her once. Most of our time was spent chatting online. I have literally books of chatlogs. The only photos I have are from my trip to meet her just prior to applying for the visa. I only have 1 week to collect more evidence and so far all I have are chatlogs to print, a couple photos, my cell phone records which show me calling turkish telecom, and international text messages sent to her which were logged. We did most of our communication online since her spoken/listening to english is limited, as is my turkish. She can read/write it very well tho. I also have a valentines days card she sent me and she has the note and a dried rose from when I sent her roses.

I think I'm gonna have her ask the interviewer if it's ok for us to have the ceremony (but not the legal marriage) that weekend in Turkey. That's our plan so far. I think me being there and having a Turkish wedding would indicate how serious we are as well as make sure there won't be any issues with the K1.

I'll give Turkey a merhaba or two for you.

My fiance is Turkish and her interview is in less than two weeks. Our case # doesn't show up here. Is there any reason they wouldn't just tell her of any missing documents at the interview? Anyone have any idea what this is exactly?

I think this is regarding people who have had a refusal of Visa. It should be a form that shows what is needed to finish the application process. I will look more into it

Opps sorry looks like you can courier the missing items (if any) back to the embassy. So! Looks like this is only if you have your interview and you are missing items.

Hiya!! Just wondering for those of you that have been to the interview... I know a couple got asked for a co-sponsor. Do you know if that was due to last years income or this years? I am terribly worried. I make about 35k right now, but only made 19k last year... Any ideas?

Yes I'll be in Istanbul Thursday then Ankara Saturday. Then two weeks of vacation and potentially a wedding. Just curious but it says to deposit $100 in a bank and keep the receipt. Does my fiance just walk in and tell them what the money is for and they give her a receipt? The instructions aren't very clear.
