Good afternoon,

I was wondering if my husband should go ahead and apply for his social security number or just do it when applying to adjust status? Is it better to get that first? Please advise. Any information would be a great help. Thank you.

Get the SSN as soon as the I-94 is available after entering the US.

You can see the steps we went thru at our Profile->Our Story or Timeline

He should have applied before he married. He should still try. With an SSN, these become easier: Joint taxes, health insurance, bank accounts, utility accounts

When you filed everything together did you only have to pay one fee? Also, when filling out the travel application, I know we are to check the advance parole box but do we put an intended travel date. When I read about this application, it sounds as if it is for an emergency travel. Please advise

It is still a single fee. There is a proposal to change this

Yes as @Mike E said, the I-131 (AP) is free if filed in conjunction with the I-485 (AOS), as is the I-765 (EAD), and use the example link.

The only thing I would add is in Part 7 of the I-131, you can include a separate sheet explaining how you qualify for an AP, and what circumstances warrant issuance of AP. We listed some elderly relatives of my foreign spouse and pics of their foreign ids. See
