My fiancé's interview appointment is a April 21 and I will be gathering and sending my W-2 form, 1040, and monthly bank summaries; what other documents would I need?

How far back of bank summaries should I include? (how many months?)

How many years of tax returns should I include? I plan to include both my 2022 and 2021, is that sufficient?

Since my fiancé's interview is past the April 15  tax date; will the consulate require the 2022 tax returns, or will 2021 tax returns be ok?  I have my 2022 tax returns, but my brother who is is my joint sponsor will file for tax extension and will file taxes in June instead of April, can we use my brother's 2021 tax returns?

I wasn't able to find much about the i-134 here on VJ, except an I-134 example PDF that was from 2018, any tips or links would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Bring current pay stubs to show you are currently working.  The instructions also recommend letters from your employer and bank.

You shouldn’t need the 2022 transcript, but have it ready when you file to adjust status.

The thing is I haven't been working since April 2022, I'm currently in nursing school. My 2021 tax returns was around $50k, but my most recent 2022 returns was only $21k ....and under the minimum requirement income for me and my fiancé. That's what I'm a little worried about.

So, I'm relying mainly on my assets; my bank account statements and investments, which adds up to around $165k. It's more than 5x the amount required for assets.   Think this will bother the consulate for our case?  For taxes, I didn't work for 2020, $50,000 for 2021, $21,000 for 2022.

As you probably know, you'll need to bring all the same documents for your sponsor, plus documentation for your investments, bank accounts, etc.  Make sure the CO understands you want to qualify with your assets and the sponsor at the interview.  Search the forums, as I have seen discussions about people using assets to qualify.  People have done it successfully, I just haven't seen any posts specific to Vietnam.

Best of luck to you and your fiance - Jason

So, the joint sponsor will fill in the same documents as myself, correct?  The I-134, bank summaries, 2 years tax refunds and assets.

Sorry, I think you should probably search all the forums for what others have done when they had a joint sponsor.  I would assume that you need the same documentation for each of you and it is not country-specific, but I don't want to give you incorrect information.  - Jason

My fiance got approved today and this what I gave them.

Bank statements from the last 6 motnhs

Tax returns from 2022 with all the other related documents W2, etc

We also had a co sponsor

Our co sponsor 2021 tax return and related documents. She hadn't filed her 2022 tax return yet so she included her 2022 W2.

A copy of her passport and a copy of her marriage certificate because she still had her old name in her passport.

Both forms were signed in wet blue ink.
