Internal checkpoint with i-751 pending

Hi everyone, my wife and I will be visiting family members in south Texas. We will be driving through an internal border patrol checkpoint. My wife’s green card expired and her i 751 is still pending. She has a 24 months extension letter from USCIS. 

 

Will we face any issue at the internal checkpoint or should I delay this visit until we have the 10 year green card?

No need to delay the trip.
 

We live in southern AZ, and from June to October last year, my wife had  an expired gc and a valid  extension letter. She never had a problem going through internal BP check points.   
 

If she brings her gc and extension letter,  she will be fine.
