Anyone on here use Limewire? How safe is it for P2P Mp3 Exclusive downloads?

Limewire has been a cause of me servicing many PC's, I am and MCSE.

Limewire tends to be packaged with SPYWARE.

Only one I have seen so far that is free of SPYWARE is eMule.

i use emule too... and never had too many issues with spyware

I used Limewire for 2 months, and got 4 virus's on it and used my firewall and virus software. Limewire is not safe, DO NOT USE IT.

its also very slow, it will slow down your whole computer, even after closing limewire to get your pc back running normal you need to restart.

thank you for the replies, all the other reviews I read stated that it was safe as long as one only downloads Mp3 files and sets up the options to not allow uploading.

Cnet even gave Limewire a great review

along with the numerous hacker attempts due to having a p2p connection. had plenty with kazaa, limewire uses p2p too.

I strongly recommend going from direct p2p to .torrent-based filesharing. Use a small, reliable .torrent client like uTorrent and a nice semi-private tracker like Demonoid, and you'll never have any problems.

Demonoid is invite-only, but I have a few spare invites should you want one.

I use lime wire - I even paid for the full version. I have not had any weird problems

not that I have noticed..

the paid version of software is usually free of spyware, but you still get the p2p hackers etc.
