Citizenship for non US children who live abroad

I am applying for citizenship soon, as I married a US citizen.

Once I am a citizen, can I only apply for citizenship for my children under 18 who live abroad, if they were to live with me in the US? Or can I apply for citizenship for them while they live abroad?

They won't be able to become citizens until you file I-130s for IR2 visas and they enter the US under immigrant visas. Then they'll become citizens after POE and you can apply for their passports.

Your children can only become US citizens from you; when you become a citizen AND they have a green card, AND are in the USA in your custody and care, AND are under 18 years old. If you meet all those conditions they become citizens automatically by law.

You will need to file i130 for them and obtain green cards when they arrive in the USA they become citizens.
