Bush was really caught off guard by the question.

Question :: You're a rancher. A lot of us here in Kansas are ranchers. I just wanted to get your opinion on Brokeback Mountain and if you had seen it yet... You would love it. You should check it out.

Bush :: I hadn't seen it. I would be glad to talk about ranchin' but I haven't seen the movie... I've heard about it... I hope you go.. you know.. heh, heh.. I hope you go back to the ranch and the farm is what I was going to say... I hadn't seen it.

It's hilarious in print, but if you want to see it, here's a link to the video:

It's funny, here at my work the guys joke about the movie, but when I told them I had seen it, they were all interested in what happened in the movie.

It really is a good movie, and it makes you think. Although for me watching the buttsecks was a bit disturbing; not my thing after all.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I heard it was just another a chick-flick love story. Of course with 2 guys versus guy/girl.

I don't really get what he meant by "I hope you go back to the ranch and the farm is what I was going to say".

I love Dubya though, he's so cute. (L)

No one ever claimed he was a good, or even coherent, speaker.

A question for everyone: I've run into some people who think it's homophobic if you don't want to watch Brokeback. I don't want to watch it because it sounds chick-flicky in the sense that it's a drama and I bet there isn't much violence or comedy lol. If you don't want to watch it, what's your reason?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Yup. That's the sole reason I won't be seeing it.

Not planning on watching it either. There are tons of movies I don't watch. Mostly the chick-flick type movies. This is just gonna be another one of them. And not watching this one doesn't make me a homophobic.

 i agree....i think it will not win the acamdey award...

Ok, I have to say that I didn't think it is a chick-flicky movie at all! I went to see it on Sunday and did think it is very good. all the actors did a great job. Yes, I was uncomfortable a bit with the more intimate scenes as that is just how I was raised . . . but I try to stay a bit more open about letting people live their lives the way they want as long as it isn't hurting anyone else. And that is the point that someone else made . . . they did hurt other people!! wives, parents, friends . . . but it also hurt them.

I felt it was a very sad movie and I did cry at the end . . . so I guess you could think about it as being chick-flicky for that reason.

PS, beautiful scenery . . . makes you want to move to Wyoming! almost, LOL!!

PPS, I also make decisions not to see certain movies . . . the ones that usually blow up everything and shoot everyone to bits, :D .

It is a beautiful, sensitive film, and Ewen and I saw it in Edinburgh. We both loved it.

That said, I don't think not wanting to see it makes you homophobic, just as not seeing Monster's Ball doesn't make you racist. (But that's also a great movie. And Heath Ledger is in that, too!)

Abby (U.S.) and Ewen (Scotland): We laughed. We cried. Our witness didn't speak English. Happily married (finally), 27 December 2006.

Latest news: Green card received 16 April 2007. USCIS-free until 3 January 2009! Eligible to naturalize 3 April 2010.

Remember Showgirls? It was X-rated and there was a bunch of hype. Nudity didn't make the movie any better. Gay won't make a movie better either. Good writing will.
