Hi, I am applying for N400 family based citizenship. One form field asks for the date of my spouse's naturalization. He was about 18 months when he came to this country and got citizenship through his parents naturlization. We do not have a date for when he got naturalized. What date do I enter in that field?

He was in the US at the time

Then he derived his citizenship at the same time as his parent, so date of naturalization is the same date his parent naturalized. He should get that information from his parent's naturalization certificate.

Ask his parents when they naturalized.  That is the date he became a citizen. Note that he did not naturalize. He acquired citizenship though his parents.

If his parents don’t know their naturalization date, then you enter UNKNOWN

1. Will his parents be willing to provide a copy of their naturalization certificate to you?

2. Will they be willing to let you bring the original naturalization certificate to your N-400 interview?

3. Does your husband have a certificate of citizenship?
