Hey guys, I just got the letter in the mail that my husbands biometrics was 10 days ago. We have been going through a really rough time with my husband having medical problems and have a flight scheduled on Wednesday for a surgery he needs to receive as we can't afford it in the USA. I have been completely stressed taking care of him that I had put checking the mail off for longer then I should have, especially since I didn't think that we would be receiving something from USCIS. What do you think I should do?

Call USCIS on Monday or go to my local office straight? Is there a chance they will let us reschedule? I heard that you can make walk-in biometrics so maybe they will let us do so on Monday?

Second, if they don't let us to reschedule, and end up rejecting the application. Is the 24 month extension still valid for the travel we have to make for my husbands surgery? In this case, would we just re-apply once we come back? Is there any way to know if they have rejected the application yet?

Thanks.

Go to the appointment location, wait till foot traffic is down and then ask to take your prints. But only when foot traffic is down.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

8AM when they open? or what is usually a good time?

Noon..

But if you're planning on doing this, you need to prepare to pitch camp, meaning staying in your car for hours and wait till you see no traffic.

Morning are not the best. In my area, there's always a line by 8am. So, they won't even entertain you at that time.

Ok I will try it. Anything I should prepare to bring with me? I will read the notice letter but just incase I need something else.

OP- did this work?

Timona- not sure if you have recent experience about going to a field office recently. There is no such thing as monitoring "foot traffic" now as everything is by appointment (at least in my field office). I tried once and nobody was in the parking lot. I could not even get through the door as the USCIS guard went to my car and greeted me then asked me if I had an appointment. I said I wanted to "walk-in" and he said you must have an appointment. This is why I am asking if your advice is still relevant.

I guess it's different offices. My last experience was last year when my friend walked in. He had no issue. The security guards here are in the building. They are always behind their desks. The only place I've seen them outside the building is at the one office where interviews are conducted. All other ASC have the guards playing roblox behind their desks 🤣

No for me it didn't work. There was absulutely 0 foot traffic when I arrived and the officer/guard at the door just told me that even though they used to accept this, they no longer  do. :( So I think it may be by location/office based.
