Hello!
My Stepkids, which I petitioned for, had their interview yesterday, and it went well. However, they received a 221G slip with missing Tax Transcript/pictures. The CO kept their passport . My husband submitted the transcript the same day, right after the interview, to the CEAC portal. However, we do not have any pictures as it destroyed them during the earthquake. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What do i do? Is it a good sign they kept the passports? Thank you!

I would think that the passport was kept because they think that you can provide the necessary information quickly before they can finish your case and return your passport.

If your passport was given back to you, it could be that it is needed for you to get other documents to provide to them. Also, if the case is expected to take a long time, the passport may be returned since people need it to travel.

Certainly new pictures can be taken and notarized with the explanation that the originals were lost through the earthquake.

I'm surprised that the information was not requested prior to the interview in the form of an RFE.

Check to see if transcript was received and see what else is needed.

You need to provide what they need.

Thank you for your prompt response. Concerning pictures, they requested pictures of the kids with their fathers (my husband). You think we can take pictures now and submit them?

Don't you have any digital copies of the pictures?  Did your husband never send you pictures of him with his kids?

Are you sure they don't mean passport pictures?

Are your step kids already adults?

How old were the kids when he was still living with them? Maybe you can find other proof of the relationship that will be acceptable to the embassy.

Yes, I am sure, it said pictures with their father. They brought their passport pictures with them.
