Hi everyone ,

My wife had an interview in casablanca on 24th June 2022 for her Cr1.

The officer approved her case and advised her visa should be ready for pickup in a week .the paper they gave her says it might take up to 2 weeks . Her ceac status is showing administrative processing which can take up to two months . Can someone shed some light on it ? Maybe they experienced something similar .

Thanks

Administrative Processing can last days, weeks, months, or (in rare cases) even years.  This is especially true for MENA countries.  There is just no way to predict the length.  It cannot be waived or expedited.  The fact that they kept her passport is a very, very good sign .  Patience is the key.  Good luck.

Note:  Visas are never actually approved until all administrative processing has been completed.  Look for the status to change to "Issued".  That is the only real indication of approval.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Administrative processing can also mean the visa is being processed

should be a 2 week process (if approved) unless the electricity and/or computers in embassy go down which they often do

like crazy cat says "watch for issued"
