They’re handled together, from what I’ve read.  So the citizenship will make the I751 moot.

My understanding that there is often a combined or 2 step interview .. the N400 cannot be approved unless/until the I751 is first approved. Its not that the I 751 becomes a moot point but rather it us dealt with first then the IO can move forward with the N400 interview

From what I have seen it could be a mixture of results.  If the I751 package made it to the local USCIS office, the IO may conduct a joint I751/N400 interview.  If the I751 has not made it to the local office, then the IO will conduct the N400 interview, but cannot make a decision on that until the I751 is finalized.  If the I751 is close to being final at the service center before the N400 interview, then it may be approved without an interview.

Regardless of the situation, unless you actually receive a NOA showing the I751 approved, your USC spouse should come with you to the N400 interview in case the IO decides to conduct a joint interview.  This is what happened to my wife and I, her I751 was pending when her N400 interview was scheduled, so I went with her to the USCIS office, and the IO called me back for a short (less than 5 minutes) I751 interview, then I left and my wife had her N400 interview.  The IO approved both a few days later.

Good Luck!

Knowing one person personally who did this and reading several others, the experiences have been that the I751 is handled at the same time-so they do a separate process, but at the same time.  So if you go in for the N400, odds are you’ll the I751 adjudicated at the same time.  The I751 gets approved at the same time, but people haven’t had to wait for a separate interview.

Same time,  yes , but the I751 must be approved before they can proceed with the N400. May be unable to determine which bit the officer is doing but thats the procedure
