Hello, I am just curious if anyone knows what the "Supporting Letter" is for Form I-765 and also does anyone know if the F1-OPT EAD card with I-797 Notice of Action is just a photo copy of the EAD card and then a printed application of Form I-797 Notice of Action filled out? What does the Notice of Action do?

Where did you get that info from?? You should only be looking at USCIS' official forms straight from their website. All other info on websites like law firms and whatnot could be outdated or even flat-out incorrect. Click here for USCIS' official I-765 instructions: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-765instr.pdf

Instructions for foreign students wanting to apply for OPT/CPT starts on pg 7. Your educational institution's international advisor should also be a main go-to source for information.

Form I-797 comes from USCIS. I assume in the above it refers to an NOA from USCIS to communicate the acceptance of the F-1 OPT EAD application in question.

I'm not sure where the screenshot you posted comes from, a "Supporting Letter" is not required for the I-765, but many people will put a cover letter in their applications.

09/15/21 - Sent packet via USPS to Chicago lockbox

09/22/21 - Priority date

09/26/21 - Text/email confirmation of receipt by USCIS

09/28/21 - Checks cashed by USCIS

09/30/21 - Received I-797C for I-485, I-765, I-131 and I-130 in mail

10/09/21 - USCIS online account updates to schedule biometrics

11/01/21 - Biometrics appointment (Brooklyn, NY)

11/04/21 - Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS

02/14/22 - I-765 Expedite requested

02/24/22 - Expedite evidence sent

03/23/22 - EAD arrived in mail

05/06/22 - AP approved (expedited)

01/03/23 - RFE for I-693, case transferred to Boise, ID office

01/17/23 - I-485 approved

01/25/23 - GC arrived in mail

This is from a cover letter showing all the supporting documents needed when submitting the application to USCIS.

So far I have Two recent passport style photos, Form I-94 and Entry/Exit History, Copy of Passport with Visa Entry Stamp, Copy of I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status, and also the EAD card which is only valid from July - September only.

This application is concurrent filing with Adjustment of Status for a new EAD card to be able to work after September when the first one expires.

Is the I-797 Notice of Action also required when submitting this application since this will be filled while having a valid OPT EAD card?

As stated above, the only list of required supporting documents that matters is the one from USCIS, which is found on Page 25 in the link given by mushroomspore. As an AOS applicant, you will also need to add whatever documents are required by the relevant AOS category (Page 15 onwards). I'm only familiar with (c)(9) eligibility for AOS for which I did not need a "Supporting Letter".

The I-797 for the EAD is not required, I included mine though.

If filing i765 concurrently with i485, the only additional things you need to provide for i765 are two PP photos and a copy of your previous EAD. That's it, nothing else. Don't confuse them by providing unnecessary stuffs that may delay the process. Read instructions carefully and choose correct category c(9).

Yes I did put c(9) for eligibility category. So I will just include 2 passport photographs and copy of EAD from OPT. Thank you.
