Issuance of new card nullifies extension letter?

Hi again VJ Community! I just want to clarify something. The discussion was mainly about having the 2 year gc and extension letter nullified if the case says new card is being issued (the 10 yr gc). Is this true? 

 

I will be travelling out of the country while my gc is not expired yet but I'll be using my then expired gc and extension letter to come in. If at any case, while I'm not in the US and my new card comes, can I still use my 2 yr gc and letter to come in? Or would they be expecting me to have the 10 yr gc? Has anyone tried this?

You can use your 2 year gc and unexpired letter to board a flight to the US.  Expect a longer time in secondary with CBP but you will be admitted.

I agree with @Mike E.  You can use you extension letter and expired GC.  Good luck.
