If I decide to go for a K1, I'd like to be with my fiancée as much as possible :D . Has anyone here gone to live in their significant other's country while waiting for the papers to come through? I know my passport allows me 90 days in Ecuador without a Visa, but beyond that point, I have no idea what I would do. There don't seem to be any Visas issued by Ecuador for "hanging out indefinitely".

I have the financial means to do this (hopefully), but I'm wondering what experiences others have had in this arena.

Yes there are many posts about doing this. You need to keep in mind that you may need a co-sponsor for support for the visa.

The tend to be concerned about your income on the I-134, and how you will support your fiancee once they enter the country on the K-1, so a co-sponsor helps convince them that your fiancee will not become a charge of the state.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

In many situations people simply "step-out" of the country (to a neighboring country) for a few days or maybe a week or so, and then when they return they have a new 90 day "clock". I do not know if ecuador allows this but it might be worth a look.

YMMV

Let me clarify... I am a US citizen, she's an Ecuadorian citizen. I'm considering moving down to Ecuador to be with her while we wait for the K1.

Just remember the need to show that you can support your fiancee at the interview. You can use a co-sponsor if you don't have the required income.

I am currently abroad living with my fiance, but all my paper work is for my permanent address in the states. I will say that is has been an added stress, not having things readily accessible, and relying totally on family in the states to let me know if things have arrived. If you have someone living at your place in the states, or someone that can check mail, that may be easier, and they can forward everything to you, or fax, however. It has been stressful, though, feeling sometimes I could have been a better help back in the states. If you do decide to stay in ecuador, bring all the original paperwork with you, for your information. The only thing that may be a problem is, if your doing and affidavit of support, you may have to go back to get that. Good Luck.

I am sure many have done something like that. We were in Administrative Review for 5 months which made it hard to plan because we never new when it would end.

We decided to spend the summer together in the Caribbean and are in Barbados right now. We kept our total trip to less than 90 days for visa purposes but you could always take a weekend trip to a neighboring island or country and come back and start the 90 day clock ticking again.

Our plans are going to have us hustling to make our interview. We did not want to get the police report until we were out of A/R and now when she gets back she will only have 24 days to get ready. We have our fingers crossed on the police report which they say takes 30 days.

If our A/R had not ended I was going home for 2 months to take care of business and then back here for a few months together. It is hard to be away and keep things going there. I had to arrange lawn mowings, prepaid a lot of my bills and have people picking up my mail and watching for anything important. I have my own business and it runs fine without me so that is not too much of a problem.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.

I would just make sure that you will not run into any problems about sponsoring your fiance. It sounds great but what about when you come back?? Do you still have a job to come back to? This process is very tough but just hang in there. I wish you the best!

Hi, I am in the same position, i have been living in the Ukraine with my fiancee since Jan 2007 and i of course have registration to stay from the Ukraine gov. I am self employed and have substantial assets that i will prove at the interview. But we are also pondering what the Embassy in Kyiv will say about this. Obviously we have a real relationship with living together for 7 months and my fiancee is 3 months pregnant and yes its my baby. So we are nervous for our interview and i am considering having a co-sponsor even though i have assets. I am planning on bringing letters from my banks and my 2006 and 2007 bank statements, which my 2007 statements are basically a balance since i have been living in Sevastopol so i have no transactions. The only thing is that i have yet to file my 2006 Federal tax returns! So this could be interesting! We will schedule our interview this coming week. Any thoughts on this and or advise?
