Considering that marriage is way up there with big life events , and family/ religious celebrations are certainly not the equivalent of a weekend w Bernie Party , I think you should at least try and make your case for expedite. 
Call USCIS/ use interactive online and try to get an Info Pass , it’s worth the effort to make your case. 

 

An illness, accident, or death in the family are events that could not be foreseen and therefore are valid emergency reasons for expedite requests.

 

Parties, no matter how important, are something that can be scheduled in advance and, if required, re-scheduled.  These are not emergency situations.

This is frivolous and a waste of time and you know it.  

Especially when we regularly see rejections of expedite requests for actual urgent/medical needs vs poor planning.
