How important is exact divorce date on passport app?

The passport application asks for the date of divorce in previous marriage. I have already provided date of current marriage (to US citizen). I can narrow it down to the month but I can not find my divorce certificate anywhere to get the exact date.

You might want to get a copy of the divorce decree. You never know if you're going to need it later on...

Yes, I do *have* one....I can't find it. I think I left in accidently in Canada.

 

However, if anyone else is in this situation, the date of your last divorce is written on your next marriage's marriage certificate.
