NVC and W2

Hi everyone, 

Will NVC accept a copy of my W2 form to take to the interview once scheduled? or do I have to take the original? Because I can't seem to find my original W2 form.

NVC will accept a scan of the W2.  If the interviewing officer at the consulate ever asks for the W2, they will be fine with a printed/photo copy.

If possible (that is if IRS has completed your 2021 tax returns by time of interview) it would be best to print out the IRS transcripts 

same for 2020 if u are lucky enough to have interview before april 18th

Many, if not most people these days never receive an "original" W2.  Just an online, print it yourself pdf W2 is pretty normal these days so there really isn't an "original" paper W2 anyways. A copy or printout is as valid as any.

Thank you, Where can i get it online?

Also, does NVC require you to upload the W2? I uploaded my Tax Return transcript only

Whether it is online or not is up to your employer but I was merely saying there isn't really an original paper W2 for many or most people.

 

I would absolutely positively upload W2's whether they are included in the transcript or not.  You could do a quick search here or elsewhere and find dozens of cases where people get "Case FE Review Note: Please submit every 2020 W-2/1099 form for XXXXX".  Which could possibly cause months delay at the rate NVC is moving these days.  Better safe than sorry.

Do you think i can request a form "W-2 wage and tax statement" from the IRS?

Often they want a copy of the W2. There are numerous cases you can find here and elsewhere of people submitting complete transcripts and still getting "Case FE Review Note: Please submit every W-2/1099 for".  You may be fine without it but unless there is a difficulty getting a copy of the W2 it's better safe to submit it than sorry.
