It would appear the source of income is unclear to NVC

a 1099 would be from a source that paid someone for services meaning the 1099 would be a business income and not the petition's income due  to deductions of the amount for business related expenses

a 1099 R is for retirement and Non taxableand may not be found on adjusted gross income line (in many cases) and immigration allows a percentage to be used for support of the affadivit

Best advice:

any time immigration whether it be USCIS,  NVC or the embassy asks for proof of any kind ,   comply and send it

as the case goes no further till they get what they ask for

keep copies of all things sent to immigration

and when sending (even though your name is on the W2 , etc)

put your case # ,  Both names and both up DOB's in the upper right hand corner (after u copy them to the 8 x 11 to scan to CEAC)

"Ours is not to question why,  ours is to do or die" (  that is the petition to die)

not if NVC  has asked for the copies of his W2 ,   1099 for his business and 1099R (in case he gets any retirement)

If they don't ask,  it's not needed

but if they ask,  then NVC wants these things

And it appears this was asked for and received in 10/20 / that would be for prior years taxes like for 2019 as 2020 was not yet done

NVC is obviously looking for 2020 (and if the case goes to interview after 4/15/22 then 2021 returns)

the income must be from most current year which is now 2020 tax returns

It can't be 2020 taxes as it was requested and responded to October 20  1920 and we can not do taxes for 2020 till the forms are available in January 2021

look at the dates of request and respond  on this IRS transcript

If your joint sponsor has no 1099/W2 then you need to submit a signed statement explaining why the JS has no W2/1099 for the 2020 tax year.
