Filing I-485 with I-131, but without I-765

So here is the situation: We are currently in the process of filing for AOS for my wife, who came in on a K-1 visa.

But are planning to travel this summer. From my research, the EAD takes longer to process than the Travel document.

Therefore, I am thinking of filing for the Travel Document, without filing for the EAD.

My only question is: will this raise any red flags?

No. Without EAD she wont be able to work. You can apply just AP along with AOS

Not worried about her being able to work. I'm just worried about USCIS looking at our AOS application a bit suspiciously, if we don't file for EAD.

Not an issue. EAD/AP are optional not mandatory

Really?  I have never heard this.  AP requires biometrics, so I would think that would take longer.  Most people end up with the combo card.

I think it's the opposite, the EAD requires biometrics but the AP doesn't. That's what it was back when I went through the process at least, I filed for my EAD after I filed for AOS and AP, and received biometrics for the i-485 and the i-765. Nothing for the i-131. And for me it was true that the AP went quicker to process, the EAD took slightly longer.
