Hey everyone,

It's been a while since Ive been around here, but I was hoping y'all could point me in the right direction. I have a friend who is a greencard holder and would like to bring his daughter to the States. His daughter is unmarried, over 21, and she also has a 4 year old daughter she would like to bring along with her. What are their options? Could he bring his daughter and granddaughter over to the States?

Thanks,

G(Venezuela)Venezuela%20flag-S-anim.gifanimated_earth.gifus-flag-small.gifJen(GA,U.S.)iATxm5.png369549mx7b73btk2.gif

Is there a husband?

Per OP, she "is unmarried."

He'll have to file I-130 petition to start F2B process. The granddaughter would be an eligible derivative applicant since his daughter would be the principal applicant for the F2B.

But note that F2B process takes many years to complete. She would have to remain unmarried until she enters the US with the Immigrant Visa (or until he naturalizes; whichever occurs first).

Is the father ok with the child migrating?

Whether he is ok with or not at this time is not as relevant since after time passes his view on the matter could significantly change.

Thanks,

Yes he can file for her and her daughter would be a derivative. She will be F2B category. Unmarried child over 21 of permanent resident.

He will not be able to naturalize, granddaughter will not be able to be a derivative.
