Mine changed to Ready. I don't know how that's even possible since it changed to in-transit just this Tuesday.

What does ready status mean?

From what I understood from earlier searches etc it's the final status I believe next step being the embassy will send a packet of docs to the beneficiary. I don't quite understand myself but happy nonetheless.

I have noticed that almost all cases sent to India are "Ready" within less than a week of being "In Transit" so seems like the norm. 

 

If your case is ready you can go ahead and schedule your appointment (provided you have done all the prerequisites like obtaining a PCC, medical, etc.)

My lawyer might have gotten an email. I just checked this morning and saw it. My K got delivered at 9am and the case changed to ready at 10:30am

Hi yes I scheduled the interview in Jan, we did not get the packet 3/4 yet though. Also curious about your status, did you have an interview already? I don't see it on the timeline. Thanks.

My case was received at NVC on December 16th but has been there since.  I think I missed the last shipment date (Dec 21/22) so I'm hoping I can make the next shipment date which I think is Jan 4/5.

 

When you were booking an appointment in Mumbai, what were the earliest dates available?  I'm just trying to get a sense of how far out the appointment will be from the day that our case is declared "ready"

I see. When I was checking there were plenty of appointments available, but had to go back in a few times to select something further out since other things need to line up PCC Medicals etc. FYI if it matters, I didn't wait until it's ready at NVC, we started ds 160 once we got the NVC number and paid the DS 160 fee a week later. That way you can check interview appts even if you don't book yet.

So can we fill out ds-160 when we get our case number from NVC or we need to wait till the status goes to transit?

 

Also we can pick a slot for interview after case shows ready right? When do we receive an email from embassy? Turkey here.

You can begin the DS-160 after you obtain your NVC case number but it is not recommended to sign and submit until you see the case is in the "Ready" status.  Others have paid the DS-160 fees to take a look at appointment dates as well but again it isn't recommended to book an appointment until your embassy says you're ready.

My case has been “in transit” status for almost 2 weeks now and still no call from the embassy to my fiancé. Anyone else running into this problem? I thought the process moved quick once the case was shipped to the embassy? I know there were holidays in between but I thought once the embassy received it (which according to the DHL hack, they have), they would call. We are trying to meet a wedding deadline here so if anyone has experienced something similar with their embassy, please let me know!
