Hello everyone!
my brother is a registered nurse in our home country and i would love to bring him over here to work.

How to begin the process? What documents do we need? And what is the estimated timeline for the whole process?

i asked a group on facebook, some of the answers were that it won’t take more than a year, and that he needs credentials and an exam and if he passes the NCLEX exam we go through westways staffing services and they help us with the rest of the process ( green card, residency … )

 Any ideas or thoughts please???

He would have to come to the US entirely through a professional staffing agency for foreign Nurses.  He can't come to the US through you anytime soon.   You could start here:

He also might contact the State Board of Nursing in the state where he wants to practice.

I’ve known people who used these agencies successfully. To be honest I thought it was a scam at first because it sounded too easy but they do that, guide the person in nclex and whatever they need to do to be able to practice in the US, and place them with an employer prepared to sponsor them an immigrant visa. The trade off is that you contract for the first three or so years at a wage slightly below that you can get on the market, and maybe not your first choice location, but of course once the contract is over you still have a green card and can work wherever you want. I don’t know about westways, I can look up the one my friend used, but make sure you look at many reviews etc.  it took my friend about a year from start to finish but that was before the visa backlog at the embassies from Covid so not sure how long the process would take now.

Edit: my friend used Avant healthcare. This was about 5 years ago.

I am afraid it is a scam because they made it so easy when I contacted them. They didn’t mention it is a contract job though! Thanks for sharing.
