Yes, it's possible to file multiple DS-160 at multiple embassies.

Doing so will make you look desperate for a visa, so it may work against you.

I see, I only plan on doing one other embassy than the embassy I have an appointment at currently. Had to make an appointment outside the EU due to travel restrictions but now that those are going away, I want to see if I can get an emergency appointment in my home country

You probably can, but visa shopping is frowned upon. The embassies will all be able to see all the applications you have in the system. It will certainly make you look desperate and/or like you’re trying to game the system,

Yeah that makes sense. I would only have applications at two embassies, one third country and my home country. Hopefully they understand the situation with most embassies being closed in Europe most of the year, it's impossible to find an appointment that is relatively soon. And yes I am desperate lol! But I have an agreement and sponsor for my J-1 program, just need to get the Visa processed

Are you a resident of the country you have the appointment in? It doesn't sound like it.

No I am not

It can be very difficult to get a visa in a country you are not a resident of. I'm surprised you even got the interview.

If that interview is soon, just wait until you get the interview to get another appointment. Already you seem to have weak ties to your country or any country, which is a requirement of a J1 (since you have to have some proof you'll be going back somewhere). Getting multiple appointment is going to make it worse.

Unless you can get an appointment in your country soon, in which case, I'd get that appointment, cancel the appointment in the other embassy, and just travel to your home country.
