change of address update takes awhile

Hey y'all,

I recently moved and had to update my address. My USCIS account wouldn't let me do it, and instead I tried to do it online using a link that was provided in my account. Then that didn't work either, and I just mailed a paper copy. A week later, I tried the online link again, and — surprise— it went through on the first try, and I got an email conformation right after, as well as a generated AR-11 pdf for my records. So now, I have two change of address forms submitted for my pending case, and it's been almost a week since i did the online one,  and nothing has been reflected on my USCIS account page. I don't want to miss any mail from them, I have USPS mail forwarding set up. Do I need to do anything else, or it's ok to take a while for the new address to appear on file?

It took about 3 weeks for them to update mine recently. Keep an eye on the old system, as you'll see your address change being processed there.

They messed up my first change of address, and didn't process it correctly, so I submitted a new AR-11 a month later which was correctly processed.

I did a couple AR-11s and then got a bio appointment based on my old address so chatted with an agent and they changed it for me.

Post office does not forward uscis mail.

Just a few weeks ago USCIS sent a I-797 NOA for an I-751 with extension of the green card to our old address, and the post office forwarded it to our new address.  So at least in some cases they do forward USCIS mail, maybe not green cards but I-797s and maybe other notices if you have forwarding service set up.

Ok - well they are not supposed to forward it, assuming all uscis mail is marked return service requested. I believe all the mail I have received from them is marked as such on the envelope but perhaps I was mistaken.

UPD: My new address finally shows up online. I waited another couple of weeks after my original post and mailed in another copy and called 1-800 number and left the request with an operator to fix my address online. So it took effect 6 weeks after my first AR-11 filing.
