Hello,

Here are the updated numbers for June. K-1s are up for June 2021 compared to May 2021.  IR-1s have been relatively stable for the past 3 months but still significantly below pre-pandemic levels.

  Jan-19 Jan-21 Feb-19 Feb-21 Mar-19 Mar-21 Apr-19 Apr-21 May-19 May-21 Jun-19 Jun-21
K1 23 1 6 9 19 22 22 34 22 4 14 19
CR1 109 2 66 5 78 6 68   67   31 1
IR1 130 24 94 112 99 75 74 38 91 29 65 35

Has anyone had luck with their case making it from NVC to the Ghana consulate this past month? I should be really close to the front of the line for K-1s at the NVC but my case still hasn't moved to Ghana. Makes me wonder who they are interviewing, as previously stated in my other post, it seems like they should have run out of cases that were at the consulate prior to the shutdown.

Thanks for the update Kate! Our case is still at NVC. Haven’t heard of any news about cases moving to the embassy yet.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.. no news yet of our case moving to Embassy. We were dq as of 2-21-20 and our appointment should be coming soon. I also wonder who in the heck they are giving appts to!  I did see earlier this year some people here where getting resch due to their first appt being canceled due to covid, they were dq'd the early part of 2020 jan-Feb but that was back in March? I keep thinking we should be getting ours soon as we were dq'd a few weeks after those who posted their interview experience.  I would image by now going into August they would been done with resch and review of the canceled appts due to all the proclamations. I did earlier this month request and expedited appointment due to my fathers funeral and the email from Nvc actually said Accra has stopped all Visa services, which absolutely makes no sense, but I guess we will see what happens these last few months of 2021

I'm sorry for your loss and troubles. It is perplexing why there hasn't been any movement from NVC to Ghana--it's a black box. If they have stopped all visa interviews, then they should update their website stating so. It still has the same message from months ago when they resumed conducting interviews in limited numbers.

If anyone's application makes it out of the NVC to the Ghana Embassy, I hope they will post it and let us know.  Waiting for the dam to break.

Thank you for the condolences! It makes absolutely no since to suspend all visa services but to stop the little bit of movement you have makes no sense at all. The ambassador is out every week it seems, doing this or that for the community and most of the time its with no masks, so Covid at least in Accra can not be the reason, if it was that severe or if they felt their livelihood was in jeopardy, along with the closer of Visa services, you would not be out and about in the community as she has been..foolishness

The picture was posted on the Embassy's site dated July 9th, after they just advised me due to Covid they where suspending all visa services? Interesting....No social distancing, no masks but you are concerned about the health of your worker? Bs

Lets not forget about how serious Covid is...but of course planting tree, flowers is more important than the communities health?

I’m also from Ghana do the embassy is not granting  interviews at all?

It's difficult to say for sure what is happening. Per Sweetk328, the NVC said that Accra has suspended all visa interviews. The Ghana embassy hasn't posted that it has stopped all interviews on their website, it says the same thing that it has said for months---that they are conducting a limited number of interviews.

If you refer to my original post, the Ghana embassy was still granting visas in June. That is the most recent data that is available, so no idea what happened in July and now what's happening in August. Hopefully, it won't be too long until we get July data to see if interviews have all together stopped.

Even more challenging, there haven't been many people posting on VJ about recent visa interviews at the Ghana embassy. Is that because the visa interviews aren't happening or people that are having interviews aren't posting on VJ.?  Who knows, probably a little bit of both.

I did speak to a senate congressional staffer last week and she said that Ghana, and most embassies, are only conducting visa interviews on an emergency basis (only for life and death reasons) and she checks every month with NVC (but not the embassies). I don't think the numbers support that. From the comments on VJ from people that were granted interviews at Ghana embassy (mostly from April) it doesn't seem like their visa interviews were because of emergencies.  Additionally, the number of visas granted (K1, CR/IR1) seems too high to be only for emergency purposes. We have speculated that they cleared the backlog at the embassy but haven't requested additional applications from NVC.

All of this is to say, it is difficult to tell with certainty what is happening. We have limited data that is now more than a month old. However, the more people that post on VJ, the better idea we will have.

Thanks you very much. I hope and pray the clear this backlog soon
