Most of us who are busy professionals here on VJ did it without help or RFEs.   Paying someone doesn't actually save time.

Ok. Just sharing my story bud. It saved time for me. It. Was. Awesome 🤣😆 OP. Go for it! PM for my referral if you’d like.

And I'm just sharing, "Bud" (really?) not just for OP, but for other readers to this thread in years to come, that it is not necessary, does not speed up the process, or change the odds of an approval.  It worked for you - great!  But others here had great success with DIY, which is why VJ exists.  To each her own.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for the all your input. I did more research on the K1 yesterday and kept all your advice/suggestions in mind. The process does seem to be pretty straight forward with clear and precise instructions.

-If we hired someone,  I agree, we will still have to fill out the info and gather all evidence.

-I like the advice of having family members check over everything and then you check it again.

-We have no criminal history.

-Yes, falsification is not the route to go.

What I'll do is:

-print out a checklist and be sure all documents are accounted for.

-Create a binder for keeping all documents in order.

-Triple/quadruple check forms by myself and family members having them and myself follow the instructions.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you all again,

Rory

The optional checklist that accompanies the I-129F form on USCIS.gov is what we used.  It is straightforward and concise. Good luck.

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.  Many of us think the CR-1 is vastly superior.

K-1
    More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 6-8 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 6-8 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire

CR-1
    Less expensive than K-1
    No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.

Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.
