I was recently accepted for my K1 Visa and should be receiving it anytime soon, but I have a few questions before making travel arrangements.

  1. Are there any procedures for travelling from England to Texas regarding tests and quarantining on a K1 visa? I've only had my 1st vaccine so far and I'm unsure if I should wait for my 2nd before I travel (but this won't be until September).
  2. As per the first question, my Mum would like to travel with me (under an ESTA probably, not part of my visa) for me getting married but I'm unsure if she'd need to quarantine (only if I don't) or if she'd even be able to fly with me. She's been fully vaccinated.
  3. Also relating to my first question, would I be able to get my second vaccine in the U.S if I travel with only my first? I received Pfizer which I'm aware is given out in Texas.

I think that's all I can think of so far but those are the most important questions I have right now. Hoping someone can shed some light on them. Thank you!

Your second Pfizer should be administered 3 weeks after the first.  Why would traveling in September be an issue?

I would suggest getting the second shot same place where you got the first one . There 3 wks apart .

In the UK, they're 3 months apart, not 3 weeks and to my knowledge I can't move the second shot up. The only issue with traveling in September is that flights could be more expensive or barely existent with the way the UK is going right now. And also, I'd like to be with my partner ASAP once I'm able to.

Second vaccine dose in the UK has been shortened to 8 weeks now rather than 12, however I believe you are able to go to a pop up vaccination centre and get your second dose anytime now rather than waiting 8 weeks (I am trying this out on the weekend so will come back to let you know if that's possible).

Oh please do report back when you've tried this, that'd be a big help! I did hear about the pop-up centres but thought those were for people that needed their first dose.

Your vaccination status has no bearing on your travel except that you are personally more at risk.

Since 26 January 2021, all passengers aged 2 and above arriving by air into the USA from any foreign country are prevented from entry unless they have either a negative pre-departure test result (NAAT or antigen), or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 provided by a licensed health care provider or public health official. It is recommended that you quarantine for at least 7 days after arriving in the USA, and to take a COVID-19 test (NAAT or antigen) 3-5 days after arrival. If you aren’t traveling until September, then all the US entry rules could be different.

Mum can’t travel directly to the US at this time. Presidential proclamations have UK on the list of countries where you can not have been for 14 days prior to US entry. Vaccination status does not count for entry into the US.  She could spend 14 days in another country (not on the US or UK travel restrictions list), then proceed into the US.

Yes, Pfizer is plentiful (at least in large cities) in Texas. You could walk in to just about any corner pharmacy,  hospital, or grocery store clinic. Jill Biden was at the ASTROS baseball stadium this week where they were giving free Pfizer shots and free baseball tickets to encourage vaccinations. Bring your card so your second shot can be documented on it.

The Pfizer company tested the vaccine on 3 weeks between doses and that is their medical recommendation. The UK government made up the three month plan when they had limited supply of vaccines so they could get more people started. You don’t have to wait 3 months in Texas. You don’t have to get your second dose in the UK.
