Travel Document for Nephew

Hello,

My nephew is 5 y/o. He is legitimate but his parents are separated. I was looking to have him try to apply for a tourist visa with my mom when the USEM reopens for B2 interview. However, I was told that the child needs some document from DSWD. We don't know where the dad is but the mom can sign the document.

Does anyone has any experience on this? Does the dad really need to sign some document, or will the mom's consent is enough?

Oh okay. That makes sense. Thank you! The proof of sole custody comes from the court right?

DSWD clearance is not required for US tourist visa application.  But it is required for the child to be allowed to board the plane if not traveling with either parent.  Requirements for DSWD clearance here -- https://www.philippine-embassy.org.sg/the-philippines-2/dswd-travel-clearance-for-filipino-minors-2/

The child's mother alone can provide consent for the DSWD clearance if she registers as a solo parent.  Father's consent not required.  Requirements for solo parent ID here -- https://quezoncity.gov.ph/qcitizen-guides/how-to-apply-for-solo-parent/

The place of application will obviously depend on where your nephew and his mother live, but the requirements will generally be the same regardless of where they apply.
