Hello.

I'm here to share my concern about the K1 application.

We submitted the K1 in March 2020, and received the NOA2 in November 2020. Until now, the case is still at NVC after its approval. It's been almost 6 months and we have no clue when and whether the case will be sent to the consulate in Montreal Canada. Do we have people here around the similar timeline? My worry is that the NOA2 would be expired at some point and the entire K1 process becomes invalid. Thank you for advising.

Hi Chloe,

My fiance and I are on the exact same timing as you - filed in March 2020 (NOA1 April 2, 2020) and NOA2 in November 2020. We are yet to receive any further correspondence as well. From what I can see with other timelines, cases are spending on average 8 months at NVC, prior to being shipped to the Consulate in MTL. So for us, it'll likely be sometime later this summer in July/August.

It appears that the actual interviews are being scheduled approximately 11 or 12 months from the NOA2 date. For us, this means likely October or November 2021 interviews, if they continue processing at the current cadence...

We had the same concerns regarding our NOA2 expiring. Our lawyer received confirmation from both NVC and the Consulate that we don't need to do anything on our end as this delay is due to the pandemic and beyond our control. The Consular officer managing our case will revalidate the NOA2 approval as part of the interview process.

Hope this helps!

We to filled in 2020 (June, 17, 2020) we received our NOA2 on April, 26 ,2121. I really hope that their wait times aren't as long as you say they are. @ChloeS Have your received any word from the NVC at all?

We are kind of confused  on who receives the first bit of information regarding what to do next for the NVC stage (ds-160 ect)

It seems like cases that were approved around June 2020 are now being sent to the consulate:

Thank you so much for sharing this info!! It seems that there is another few months to go. Not lucky at all in Canada.

Hi Nat,

I'm so surprised to see how similar our situations are! Waving to you!!  :)

It's reassuring to see someone else in the same situation, so I can tell myself that I'm on the right track. You are right that it seems the interview in MTL will be scheduled in October/November. With the speeded-up recent vaccine rollout lately, I hope the Montreal consulate will accelerate the processing time. It's been so long and frustrating especially when I see many other countries are so much faster than Canada in processing the cases post-NOA2. Fingers crossed that our interviews can be scheduled around the time as we anticipated.

Good luck to us!

Chloe

Nothing at all since we received the NOA2 in November 2020. It's been a long time. I contacted MTL Consulate in early 2021, and was told that they are experiencing the high volume of cases and will proceeded as soon as they can. I'm pretty confident that my application is perfectly complete. To be realistic, if you only received NOA2 in April 2021, I think it's gonna be another year or so before getting scheduled for interview- based on the estimation and processing time at the time being :(

Hi Chloe,

Absolutely, our timelines are so similar! The lengthy wait is extremely frustrating indeed, but you raise a very good point about the speeded-up vaccine rollout! That should only help shorten processing times. I have a little countdown on my phone for mid-November that I have going; just something to have to look forward to! Tough to plan our lives when there's so much uncertainty on timing, etc.

Hang in there! :) I'll reach out if/when I hear anything further that you may be interested in.

Take care,

Nat

Hey everyone! So glad I was finally able to find a Canada K-1 Visa group on here. Sounds like my fiancé and I may be in the same boat as you all. We submitted our initial I-129F in July 2020, received our NOA2 in May 2021, and just submitted our DS-160 today. Is it true that the approximate wait time until getting our case transferred to the Montreal Consulate is ~12 months? We also are planning a wedding and plan to get married in October 2022 - a little worried that might not be able to happen based on what I've been reading. I'd appreciate anyone's input!
