Can I change my name during the green card interview?

Hello everyone! So I got an e-mail saying that my interview has been scheduled and I would like to know if it's possible to change my name at the day of the interview and what evidence do I need to show? I would like to change it to my married name but I still have my Social security card and work permit under my birth name. I would appreciate the help!

Yes you can ask the IO to have your name changed. Your marriage certificate is enough for that. Once you get your GC in married name, you can apply for a replacement SS card with the new name. Your EAD will then be useless after getting GC.

Yes both my daughters had their name changed at the interview from what it was on their paperwork. We just showed them the adoption paperwork, your marriage certificate works the same way. Their green cards were delayed a week because I think they forgot to change the name so they had to reopen the case and and put the name change it. That caused me to worry a bit as the status said they were reconsidering their approval of the green card. That though was just a temp status to change the name. 

My wife came to the US on an F1 visa about 10 years ago.

04/07/2008 Biometrics Appointment in Cincinnati

06/06/2008 I-485 Approved :)
