I can't believe how often they change the rules. Is there any country in the world doing this? Most seem to have had stable policies, whether open or restrictive.

This is why Philippines is a 3rd World country, with systemic poverty and corruption all through out the country. I don't see any hope in the future for the Philippines, they have the 3rd World mentality.

You see why so many people are trying to escape from the Philippines.

Is this at your final destination LGU?

The 10 days would be in Manila, Clark or Cebu in a designated facility (one of the listed hotels), then the last 4 days can be done at your residence.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

At my former job, I had to closely follow travel regulations for many countries in 2020-early 2021. The Philippines isn't unique in constantly changing lockdown rules, but I think it must be a leader in how inconsistent the rules are. Just in Metro Manila you had to contend with constantly shifting rules per city.

Correct, this is happening in alot of other countries, but most other countries have a central authority making the decisions.  Just one example, Italy has used a red, yellow, green color code system to label their regions, but an entire region would have the same color so it was easy to understand the rules.  The Philippines, on the other hand, set general provincial rules, but then told the thousands of LGUs they were free to make their own additional rules, all the way down to the barangay level.  This is what has been disastrous.

Where did you find this information

The wife touched down again in Manila last night, returning for our excursion to Peru.  The NAIA arrival experience was a bit smother this time because you register online before you get there and the testing does not occur at the airport any longer so all they really do is confirm your quarantine information on arrival.  She had to show 7 nights pre-booked quarantine hotel to check-in to the flight to Manila.  We booked an OK'ish hotel near Cubao for about P1,000 a night. So P7,000 total for the hotel.  The wife likes quarantining there because the only staff at night is a security guard so when he dozes off it's super easy to make clandestine runs to the 7/11 down the block.  At the airport they told her they will be around the 5th day to test her and she could leave the 6th day.  (arrival date counts as a full day of quarantine even though she arrived at almost 8:00PM.)  It's not ideal, but it's not the end of the world either.  It is "manageable".

It appears she just beat the new quarantine rules which began at 1201am on May 7th.

Actually she arrived about 8:00PM on May 7th and she said it was pretty chill at NAIA.  She has a way of barely missing new rule implementations.  At the end of December she arrived back from Costa Rica earlier the same evening as the PAL flight where all the passengers got bussed off to hotel hell when they rolled out the 7 day quarantine while those passengers were in mid flight.  She did her 3 days back then.  We are mindful that things may actually change, but as of now it seems she dodged the new rules this time and next time it most likely just means an additional 2 or 3 nights in the rather lax quarantine hotel at P1000 a night.  Which is quite annoying but not any kind show stopper.

Don't they have a Taco Bell in Cubao?  I went thru there about 7 years ago visiting some people and remember seeing one in the area.

Bleep the Philippines, bleep Duterte and the bellping corrupted excuse for a Govt. This is never going to end.

Only news we get lately is negative news out of the Philippines.

I am hoping by the end of of the year we may start seeing some positive news, but in the next 6 months I don't see anything positive happening.  I think by sometime in 2022 Philippine will start to ease restrictions and the US Embassy will go back to normal processing visa.

But for now the Philippines has long road ahead of them, and you can put this blame directly in Dutertes lap.

There is a Taco Bell in MegaMall in Ortigas and in SM North.

Does it taste the same as in the USA

It’s quite similar. I hadnt ate at a Taco Bell in the US for 10-15 years but what I remember it was similar. At least the tacos, burritos, etc. They had some cinnamon crunchy things which I thought were not as sweet as the US but Filipinos generally find American desserts etc to be too sweet.
