Should my dad fill out I-864 or I-864A and household size calculation

My wife's interview is scheduled for March 15th in Mumbai. I am the primary sponsor (filled out I864),I don't have enough income so I am using my dad as a joint sponsor (also filled I864)

 

While going over the interview checklist I saw "Affidavit of Support: Forms I-864, I-864A...". We didn't fill out a I864A for my dad instead we did a I864, he has the same address as I do which I think means he should of filled out a I864A instead of a I864 but will this be ok?

 

I also want to make sure I filled out the household size correctly

 

Dad's i-864 says: 2 (1 for persons being sponsored, 1 for yourself)

my i-864 says: 2 (1 for persons being sponsored, 1 for yourself) for this section "If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse" I left it empty because it would count my wife twice.

 

Is this correct?

To make it simple:

-You as main sponsor file one I-864 with the household of 2(you and your spouse).

-Your dad as a join sponsor will file another I-864 and I-864A for your mom(if they file tax together), and the household should be 3 (dad+mom+your foreign spouse).

My mistake, I should of clarified originally. If both my parents file single filing status then what will be the case? I really appreciate the help

Then just ignore the I-864a, and the household will be 2(your dad+ your foreign spouse). Also, if your parents still married, filling tax as single is not correct.

No sorry I really should better clarify:

 

- Parents not married, each file taxes with Single status

- Neither of them claim me or my sibling as a dependent on their taxes

- (mom, dad, me, sibling) We all share the same address

You file an I-864.  You leave spouse as zero, so you don't count her twice.  You include her as the intending immigrant.  Your household count is 2.

 

Dad files an I-864 as your Joint Sponsor.  It's him and the intending immigrant for a household count of 2.  You can not combine your income with the Joint Sponsor's income.

 

Alternatively, your dad could file an I-864a as your Household Member instead of being your Joint Sponsor.  The household count would be 3.  You and your Dad can combine income.  

Personally, I prefer Dad filing as a Joint Sponsor.  You can do it both ways and see what the US Consulate will take.
