Witnesses of meeting

Hello.
We are now collecting the evidence of our meeting. We have like 4 pictures together (we both just really don’t like taking pictures) and because of my fiancé tough relationship with his family we lost a lot of receipts (for example our hotel that he wasn’t able to rent because of the age so his sister did it for him but with his money of course. She is not talking to him and won’t ever)

But we have been working together for more than a month. (I was on SWT program). So we have checks and all that. We wanted to get him a space in my room but they gave him the housing like one block away from mine. The rules were allowing me to have associates for 24hrs in my room so he was basically living with me for more than a month. There were a supervisor living in that house as well he knew that we are dating and he obviously saw us two. Also there were a friend of ours that saw us in that house and knows that we are in a committed relationship.
I am wondering if it’s a good idea to ask them to write letters as witnesses to make our case stronger

I will appreciate your replies

thank you

You do not need evidence of a “bona fide relationship” for the petition. You must demonstrate only that:

- the petitioner is a USC (birth certificate/passport or certificate of Naturalization suffices)

- you are both able to marry (all previous marriages have been terminated legally through death or divorce, you are of legal age to marry and you are not related to each in such a way that marriage would be illegal)

- you have met face-to-face once in the last 2 years (boarding pass, passport stamps, photos, etc)

- you agree to marry within 90 days of arrival (letter of intent is all that’s required - wedding invites, dress patterns, menus, guest lists, honeymoon plans, etc are all NOT needed)

USCIS will also run a criminal record check to make sure the USC petitioner does not fall into the group of people who are unable to bring fiancés into the country.

Nothing else needed. Provide as much as you can. Boarding pass, airline tickets, and passport stamps are excellent evidence.

USCIS are strictly instructed not to consider whether you “make a good couple”, whether they think the relationship will last, whether they think you are a good match. They focus purely on the legal requirements being met.

There isn't a need, and the other side of the coin is that it may lead the IO in an additional direction to verify your added information. It's like a fire that you are asked to start. The directions say start a fire and you proceed to light the entire city on fire because you were instructed to start a fire. Just an example to which I am trying to prove that it is not necessary especially for the interview at the Russian US Embassy. The process for your embassy is easy to receive a visa from. There are countries from Africa and the middle east that prove to be much more of a problem with the visa process and there I would recommend "frontloading" your visa application but not for Russia.

@DaveAndAnastasia can shed additional information as they are more knowledgeable concerning your question and the US Embassy Russia procedures.

I was talking about I-129f package. We will have to do a lot before actual visa appointment

Letters from other people are honestly not good evidence of proving you met in person. They can be easily fabricated, that’s why they hold very little weight. If, for example, you had actual lease agreements with both your names, that would have more weight compared to witness letters.

And I too was talking about the I-129f, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) package. Everything that you submit that is revelent to the process is scanned and in the system for anyone who is adjudicating your case INCLUDING THE EMBASSY who does have the last say as to whether you get a visa or not. So, tread lightly on your submission. I'm trying to help you not make a mistake that others have made. Take it or leave it but because you are not well verse in this process don't discount what someone opines.

thank you
