EAD Renewal - When to send??

Hi all - my husband got his EAD approved in September (based on his AOS application). When does he need to send for renewal? At this point we are still waiting for his interview and there haven't been any updates to his case. We just want to make sure he can continue to work in the meantime.

Also, when we send for renewal do we now have to send the form fee or is it still $0 since he originally filed with his I-485? We also need to send all of the same documents it initially required, correct?

Thank you!

If it gets there, you can submit the renewal for the EAD 120 days before it expires.  I believe it is still covered by the pending AOS.

Good Luck!

It's only free if full I-485 fee was paid. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-485instr-pc.pdf (Page 18)

Filing Form I-485 with Forms I-765 and I-131

If you properly file Form I-485 and pay the required fees, you may file Form I-765 and Form I-131 without paying additional fees. You may file these forms together, or if you choose to file Form I-765 or Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence that you filed and paid for Form I-485.

Yes we filed everything concurrently with his I-485 in March 2020 and paid the appropriate fee's.

We only filed for his EAD - so looks like 180 ( or 6 months). That will be March this year so i'll plan for him to send for renewal then.
