Action needed on my part for K-1? (NVC payment, financial forms)

Hi, I am sponsoring my fiance in Ethiopia using the K-1. My I-129f was approved and i got a letter from NVC saying they will contact soon. However this was right around March. When everything shutdown. For the past 7 mo. we have been awaiting further contact and/or interview.  I wanted to login to CEAC site to try to pay and submit forms but it requires an invoice number and i have no invoice number from NVC. This is really stressful, hoping someone has expertise in how this works?

Hey Jesse, the embassy in Addis has been closed since March and hasn't been conducting interviews for K1s, IR1/CR1, etc. since then. (Aside from a handful of people that got their cases expedited for emergency reasons). The embassy hasn't been communicating well either, so I empathize with you feeling in the dark like the rest of us.

 

If you do a search in VJ for ethiopia/addis ababa, you will find some posts and comments this week from people who finally got interviews scheduled for January 2021! It looks like these folks are IR1/CR1 AND K1 visa categories, so luckily I don't think the US embassy in Addis will go the route of ignoring K1 visas, like some other embassies were/are. The people that have been given interviews this month were DQd/ready at the NVC in December 2019, and had their original interviews scheduled in March/April 2020. Depending on where you fall in your approval date with the NVC, you should be able to get an idea of when you might get an interview, assuming the embassy stays open for a bit.

Also, it would be really helpful for everyone on here going through the Addis embassy if you update your timeline! There aren't many of us, and the more information we have from people on here, the better everyone else is able to gauge how long the process will take.

Thank you so much Katelyn! That is really the best news i have heard in a while! Ill do that search now to see. We recieved acceptance from NVC on 3/18.  So with tht timeline we would be looking at June sometime. Thanks again!

Use the light blue search box in the upper right-hand corner of this thread where it says "search" and add the "ethiopia/addis ababa" and it will return those results that you are asking for. There is not direct link but a search on your part.

Like Greenbaum said, there's not just one link, since this information is scattered throughout comments in various threads. I've included links to the threads with the most recent useful information coming out of Ethiopia. We all kind of congregated in the "Embassies to possibly start opening on July 15th" thread, and a K1 applicant gave us their information in the first link. The two users that got interviews are "Rwisoursavior" and "uiyl". Happy to add an update to visa journey. Me and my Fiance ,Tsehay just heard back from the Ethiopian Embassy on 1/15/2021. They let us know that they are "ready to begin your approved i-129 petition". We are now waiting to schedule an interview which we hope will be soon. Currently there are no slots open for us to schedule. But I am happy to announce that things are moving finally!

It looks like they're moving really fast now 🤗 3 months of NVC approvals (December 2019 - March 2020) contacted within a month! Good luck with your interview once you get it scheduled!

Hi fellow Addis Ababa Embassy filer! My case is also still at the NVC waiting to be sent to Embassy. I guess not much for us to do at this point, but you can call NVC and they will give you your invoice number so you can follow your case on the CEAC website. Hope that helps! Good luck
