Incorrect Green Card issued

Hi everyone,

I've messaged the USCIS through their online portal after having no success with their robot customer service agent on the phone. While I await their official response I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this.

I received my GC, however they issued the incorrect one. I got the IR1, when I am CR1. I figure I will have to complete form I-90 to have the problem corrected at no cost to me. I was wondering if I will have to send in the original card (probably yes) and if so, will I be able to file the form online and mail in the card separately? Or it may be better to send in the form and card together physically?

Thanks for any responses.

I have seen a few people file the I-90 online, but USCIS later asked for the original card.  If you file by paper, you have to send the card along with it.  Which way is faster?  I really am not sure.
