Completely agree. Hopefully next time we go back we go see some family in South Cotabato. My asawa is kinda hesitant to take me there because it can be kind of dangerous.

She is still correct there are parts of that area that Americans should not go.

If you do go I would suggest a private car only and have a pistol in the car.  My relative was taken there last year and he said there was places that are unsafe for Americans still, He had private car and PNP buddy driving who of course could carry weapon.

My fiance flew (tourist visa) on Emirates a week ago, Bangkok -> Dubai -> Boston.  Emirates required testing (PCR)  within 72 hours of boarding in Bangkok.  While this may be an unpopular opinion,  I think it is a reasonable requirement in November/2020 if you're going to herd a group of people into a metal tube and keep them there for about 20 hours.  However, there is some evidence that the improved cleaning and air handling systems on planes actually make the risk lower than other activities.

The upside of travel during a pandemic: she had a four-row seating section to herself for the long Dubai -> Boston leg of the trip.

Congratulations!

Thank You.  Emirates seemed to us to be the best choice.  Their testing requirement is no problem as a matter of fact I liked that they want you to use only Hospitals that they approve.  The big plus is that POE and Final Destination is the same.
